The Non-Surgical Nose Job
Wouldn’t it be great to be able to change the appearance of your nose without having to make a permanent commitment? You can, and it doesn’t involve surgery or a painful recovery period.
Many patients, fearful of surgery, are choosing Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty to improve the look of the nose with results lasting anywhere from a few months to a year or more. A few tweaks here and there along the way and in a few months or years a follow-up treatment can be performed to maintain the results. Or, you can opt for an entirely different look.
The so-called non-surgical nose job takes less than a half-hour to perform by a qualified cosmetic surgeon. The risks are fewer than the surgical method and there is little if any bruising, swelling, black eyes, or bleeding involved. The technique uses well-placed injections of a dermal filler product such as Radiesse, Restylane or Juvederm into specific areas of the nose to correct minor or moderate nasal flaws. Perhaps you have been wanting to get rid of that small but unwanted nasal hump but didn’t want surgery. Fillers can help to camouflage that. Or maybe your nose has a bump or a divot or is a bit asymmetrical. Again, fillers can help and they can be combined with wrinkle treatment. If deep nasolabial folds have been a problem, a few targeted injections of filler can smooth away those unsightly creases and shave years off of your facial appearance while creating a more desirable appearance to the nose.
While the more pronounced nasal flaws are best fixed by surgical rhinoplasty, non-surgical methods provide a quick and cost-effective alternative to surgery. The process is sometimes referred to as nose shaping or nose sculpting because that is exactly what is happening. The cosmetic surgeon is making an artful series of injections of dermal filler under the skin to change the appearance of the nose is a way that is pleasing to the patient. Even though the results are only temporary, the patient has far more flexibility to make positive changes to the shape of the nose as the months go by. There is no long-term commitment, as in the case of surgical rhinoplasty. What’s more, non-surgical injections in some cases can be used to correct surgical errors.
There are limitations to the non-surgical nose job, however. It won’t make a large nose smaller or shrink wide nostrils. What it can do is provide a short-term solution to a nasal flaw that may have been bothering you for years.
As with nasal surgery, non-surgical rhinoplasty requires a skilled hand and practitioner offering years of experience and an excellent professional track record. Talk to a qualified physician first and decide if non-surgical rhinoplasty is right for you.
