Nasal augmentation for African American rhinoplasty

Question: Is it true that augmentation is common in African American procedures and what does this entail?
Answer: Most African-american nose lack the dorsal height or projection from the plane of the face. In addition, the tip is flat and broad with weak tip support. If only dorsal augmentation is required, the surgery can be performed by a simpler closed-approach with a quicker recovery. If both tip work as well as dorsal augmentation are required, an open-approach surgery is needed and will require a slightly longer recovery.
