I’ve read about plastic surgeries that are catered to different minorities (rhinoplasty, hair transplant, etc.). However, I’ve never heard until recently about someone getting ethnic blepharoplasty. My question is how does ethnic blepharoplasty differ from blepharoplasty on Caucasians?

Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) is a surgical procedure where excess skin and sometimes fat are removed. Most Caucasians have an upper lid crease (8-12mm away from the eye lid margin), which gives the look of having ‘bigger eyes’. Certain ethnic groups (e.g., Asians) do not have this crease or have a very thin (2-3mm thick) crease. If patients have the crease, the technique is the same whether he/she is Caucasian or not. If the crease does not exist, it becomes more difficult since any incision carries the risk of visible scars. One options is to have the lid crease surgery at the same time as the blepharoplasty. It is important that a surgeon who appreciates the ethnic differences performs this procedure for the most natural look
