Like other fillers comprised of hyaluronic acid, it can help to supplement and replace the hyaluronic acid in the body that naturally depletes with age and contributes to an aging appearance.
Treatment with Perlane is conducted in the office setting on an outpatient basis. It contains lidocaine, which means discomfort is minimal. However, a topical numbing cream may be applied beforehand to ensure your comfort. It is then injected beneath the skin using an ultra-fine needle. The treatment takes just about thirty minutes to complete and there is minimal downtime afterward. Patients may experience some minor redness, bruising, and swelling that can last for up to several days; however, normal activities can be resumed immediately after treatment. Results generally last an average of six to twelve months.
